Welcome!
In addition to our wonderful Mountain Horses, we are
crazy about Poodles! Standard Poodles, that is. They are
great ranch dogs, great family dogs and wonderful
all-around companions, but only if you like lots of love
and great intelligence.
“Tia”,
Valentino's Ti Amore, was our first
Standard Poodle. Bert’s family had once had a Standard
Poodle, so when we decided to get a dog, naturally that
was what we had to have. Tia sold Paula on the breed
immediately.
Tia is a wonderful friend and teacher for our two new
additions.
The Next Generation
On October 1, 2003, Ch. Todd's Blue Iris of Antiphon (by
Ch. Kaylen's Cadillac Style) whelped two puppies from
the last live breeding by Ch. King's Champagne Taste,
producer of more champion offspring than any other
Poodle of any variety. It was a repeat breeding for
Iris, and as breeder Karen Csutoras of Obsidian Poodles
had kept puppies from the prior breeding, she allowed us
to purchase both of these outstanding prospects.
They already knew the call names Karen chose for
them-Adam and Eve.
Adam
Ch. Obsidian Champagne Event ("Adam") was first
to be shown. We will be forever spoiled with the
performance of this spectacular young dog. He finished
his championship at ten months of age, and in the next
month was shown as a puppy special. He totaled
four four-point majors, multiple Best of Winners and
Best of Variety, Best Puppy in Show and a group
placement, all before one year of age.
Handler Betty Brown and her staff at Donnchada have done
a superb job with Adam.
Adam
is a wonderful combination of the best of his famous
sire and his champion dam. He has fabulous, exciting
movement, exquisite head and all of the conformational
requirements of a great Standard. Plus, the best coat
you will ever find. Finally, his personality is the best
– easy-going and unflappable, playful and intelligent,
loyal and devoted.
We were truly lucky to obtain a dog of this caliber.
Adam has had his genetic testing and preliminary OFA
films (rating “good”). His color testing shows he is
homozygous dominant black.
Adam is now home and finishing his growing up on the
ranch. He can run at top speed for hours. He is a
happy dog!
"Eva" - Ch. Obsidian Special Event
Adam's
littermate is "Eva", a sturdy yet completely feminine
girl with exuberant personality and sparkling
intelligence. Eva owns the ranch and all the
animals and humans on it! Poodles as a rule
are smart, but this girl takes canine intelligence to
another level. There are lots of "Eva" stories!
Eva finished her championship with a four point major in
Denver on February 20, 2006, against stiff competition.
She is now home on the ranch, with all of her genetic
testing completed (all normal and OFA rating "good").
Eva is a smaller, equally stylish version of her brother.
She has an exquisite headpiece. She is compact
with substance, yet has up-headed, long-strided movement
and great presence. Eva shares her brother's showy,
"look at me" ring carriage.
Eva is registered as a blue; some say she is now silver.
Eva's color gene testing says she carries one black and
one cream gene, and can produce black, cream, red,
apricot, silver and blue, depending on the genes of her
mate.
Eva is pure
joy.
The Future
Puppies for Eva!
We have selected Am. Can. Champion Violet Sky Above, a
beautiful silver, as Eva's mate, for an August,
2008 breeding.
Our new puppy -
Obsidian Ardent Surprise
Ch.D'Kamron Klassic Kosmo X
Obsidian Canisy Its My Life
We are excited to be getting a new blue girl that
is a great match for Adam! "Libby" was born Sept.
of 2007. She has a spectacular head, long neck and
legs, great
movement, and sterling pedigree. Watch for more news
!
While Eva is trying to become a mom and Libby is growing
up, Adam has learned to be a ranch dog and shows
astonishing athleticism and stamina. He can cover
50 acres at lightning speed.
He is available for breeding to approved bitches.
He is the most beautiful dog we have ever seen, and we
keep looking.
Adam at one year.
