Sale Horses - We are your source for Choco Dock offspring!
Our Sale Horses are located at Rockin' Ridge Farm in Bloomfield, KY
Are you located out West? Check out our guarantee.
Often people say to us, "I don't need a show quality horse - I only want to trail ride." But there is really no separating these two uses in terms of qualities needed. The mind, the conformation, the athletic ability, are equally as important for a great ride, a safe experience, and long term soundness, as they are for the show ring.
All of our sale horses are registered RMHA, KMSHA, and AGMH (American Gaited Mountain Horse), or are eligible to be so registered, unless otherwise noted. Many are also registered MPHA.

TSR Red Satin Sunday 2004 Red Chocolate Mare Sire: Chocolate Venture Dam: Rockin' Country Sunday |
![]() |
Satin is a beautiful mare that we successfully showed in Kentucky for two years. She is out of two outstanding and accomplished parents, and in athletic talent and conformation, she is every bit their equal. This mare is as solidly-gaited as they come and has always behaved perfectly under saddle. She is 15 hh or just under. Satin would love to be the special horse of someone who likes to trail ride and can spend time bonding with her. Offered at $4000 at this time. Satin is currently in Kentucky at Rockin' Ridge Farm.
We had a small but great crop of 2010 fillies!
| CD's Princess Kate 4/22/2010 chocolate filly Sire: Choco Dock Dam: Triple S Lady Kate (by Sam'son out of Iron Man's dam) |
This is a very pretty, mellow, friendly chocolate filly (yes, she is chocolate with a white mane & tail)! She is beautifully put together! And what breeding. She is a granddaughter of Sam'son and Iron Man's dam on the dam's side, out of the three-time International Grand Champion Choco Dock. She is homozygous silver dapple with no vision problems, and would be a wonderful breeding prospect for chocolate foals. But mostly, we think she has inherited the best qualities of both parents, including the rock-solid disposition of her dam. We are asking $3,200 for this filly.

This is one fancy, showy filly - we think she is extra special. And she should be with her pedigree! We are asking $3,000 for this exceptional filly.
| CD's Summer of Love 2010 black filly Sire: Choco Dock Dam: Summer Spirit |

ABOUT PRICES:
You may have noticed in your "horse shopping" that there are some wildly different prices out there right now. It is a buyer's market, but sometimes the variety of what is available and the enthusiastic claims of sellers can make it even more confusing. Look, ask questions, and trust your instincts. A huge factor in price is color, and just general level of quality and "eye appeal". If you do not have to have chocolate with the flaxen mane/tail, the price will be lower. Bays and sorrels are the least expensive. Another factor is the seller's situation and how much he/she needs or wants to sell a horse at that particular time. Show/training barns that are truly in the business and must make a certain amount to pay the bills are often at the higher price levels and less able to deal on a horse's price, but often the quality or training, and an increased selection, may make this worth it. Individual sellers can be motivated by and affected by other factors that cause them to be more flexible on price and/or more motivated to sell, plus they do not get the buyer "traffic" of a larger facility, all of which can result in a lower-priced horse; however, it is harder for the buyer to visit a number of different individuals in different places to find the right horse.
The market right now is still strong for riding geldings under saddle, but cooler for mares, and only beginning to recover for younger stock not yet under saddle. There are some great mares available at very good prices and if you might be a "mare person" as I am, don't overlook them! Also, long yearlings and unstarted two year olds are, and always have been, the best bargains. They hardly cost more than weanlings, and your selection and ability to get a high quality animal for a very attractive price is the greatest with this group. Often the "discount" is enough to pay for six to eight months of training tailored to provide just what you want, and this can be paid over time.
I will always remember the advice I got from H.T. Derickson about a beautiful, champion-bred weanling filly I wanted to buy at the RMHA International Show years ago. The owner did not really want to sell her but in a weak moment had agreed to price her, so he named a price that was ridiculously high - a record price for a RMHA youngster at that time. I asked H.T. if I would be foolish to spend that much - if the price was just too high. He knew what this filly was, and he said," Yes, it is too high - this year. But next year, it won't be." He was so right. By the next year, and the years after that, I no longer thought about her price. By then, she would have sold for two and three times that price. I had an filly that I loved, and who won many championships, and the joy she gave me was priceless.
Any price you pay for the wrong horse is too much. If you pay more than you really want to for a good horse that you really love, a year later you will hardly remember the price, you will just know that you got the right horse and how wonderful it is!
