Our Mares
Our mares include old-time proven breeding stock and exciting show mares who are now producing foals. Upgrading our stock and adding fillies that are selected to be good complements to our stallions are on-going projects. All of our mares are registered with RMHA, KMSHA and AGMH. As we are phasing out breeding, we are now able to enjoy these mares as show and pleasure riding horses.

News Flash! Perfect Venture is now the 2007 UMH World Grand Champion Three year old Classic Filly! This stylish filly is also headed for the 2007 UMH high point classic mare award, with her many blues on the national circuit this year. After her very successful show debut in Kentucky with Derick Tipton of Rockin' Ridge Farm, we will be bringing her to Oregon to have the fun of showing out West in 2008.
![]() TSR Red Satin Sunday |
Satin is the youngest of our mare herd under saddle. She is a very promising filly out of two outstanding and accomplished parents. Satin is now at Rockin' Ridge Farm in Kentucky in show training with Derick Tipton. She shows great athletic ability and conformation; we have high hopes for her! She is showing all of the movement qualities her conformation and breeding have promised, AT HER SHOW DEBUT, SATIN WON UMH 2007 WORLD SHOW CHAMPION THREE YEAR OLD TRAIL PLEASURE FILLY, AND CHAMPION TWO-THREE YEAR OLD HALTER FILLY!!
| Triple S Iron N Lace 2003 Chocolate Mare Sire: Triple S Iron Man Dam: Saylor's Take Warning (by VBF's Storm Warning) |
Lacy is a gorgeous, leggy, chocolate/flax Iron Man mare that will be about 15'2 hh. She is mellow and accommodating and we have really enjoyed working her at the walk, gait, canter and trot. She has lovely, smooth gaits, and is forward-moving while staying calm and responsive. An illness when she was a weanling affected her cartilage development, which cut short her career under saddle. She has been certified, and is currently in Kentucky starting her career as a dam of fine Mountain Horses. We are breeding her to Choco Dock in 2008.
| Triple S American Express 2002 Black mare Sire: VBF's Storm Warning Dam: Choco's Beauty |
This long-legged, elegant gal is as sweet and soft as she is stylish. Sound, willing, loving and really, really nice, this mare could have a top-notch career in any area - show, pleasure riding or breeding. We are showing her in the Classic division, as well as Trail Obstacle. She is a full sister to the champion KY show mare Fair Winds Fair Warning. Express has had very diversified training and can canter, gait and trot on cue. Bert is having great fun showing and riding this exceptional mare.
| Triple S Shall We Dance 1996 chocolate mare Sire: Chief's Commanche Dam: Susie's Midnight Prancer |
A knockout chocolate mare with tons of style and charisma in an elegant, feminine package. "Dancer" was successfully shown in Kentucky in 1999, and then came out West where she has performed spectacularly as an all-round using ranch-to-show horse. We have shown her in the Trail and Classic Pleasure divisions as well as Trail Obstacle. Dancer is now retired from showing, and is loving being a wonderful pleasure riding horse. She will be bred in 2008 to the Choco Dock stallion, CD's Elixir.
| Triple S Lady Kate 1998 red chocolate mare Sire: International Champion Sam'son Dam: CJ Flying Lady (dam of Rockin' Country Sunday and Triple S Iron Man) |
Katie was born and raised at our ranch. She has been Bert's steady riding horse and show horse for many years. She is a good example of that wonderful quality in the Mountain Horses, in being as steady and sensible and "broke" when she was three years of age as the horses of many other breeds ever get at any age. She is a handsome, sturdy 14'3hh with lots of bone, straight legs and her dam's smooth way of going. Katie excels in Country Trail, in which she is two-time NW Region High Point Champion, Trail Obstacle and Western classes. Katie is in Kentucky now to be bred for her first foal.
| Summer Spirit
1999 Black Mare Sire: Pete Dam: Lawson's Pepper |
NEWS FLASH! SUMMER IS NOW THE 2007 UMH CONFORMATION WORLD GRAND CHAMPION!! This exquisite black mare has been a sure winner at halter and under saddle since she won her weanling class at the RMHA International Show. She has great presence and the most gorgeous head we have ever seen. She has a smooth as glass, gliding trail pleasure gait. After a great show career she has had two beautiful foals by Iron Man - a chocolate filly and her 2006 foal, a stunning black colt, now winning his yearling halter classes in KY, and also a winner of the yearling colt class at the World Show! Summer is expecting her third Iron Man foal in 2008.
| Pace's Mountain Wildfire 1997 chocolate mare Sire: Choco Dock Dam: Scat's Wildfire Lady |
"Wildfire" is a gorgeous Choco Dock mare who is one of our most accomplished horses. She is a full sister to the 1997 International Champion mare Stone's Thunder. In 1999, Wildfire was both the RMHA Internt'l Show first place two year old filly, and the RMHA Futurity first place two year old filly. As a three year old she won the first RMHA International Show Versatility award, as well as first place Futurity three year old. Her way of going can be either "Classic" or Trail Pleasure. Wildfire has had two outstanding offspring, and is now in Kentucky for breeding to provide us with a few more!

Triple S Spirit of Iron 2004 Chocolate filly Sire: Triple S Iron Man Dam: Summer Spirit |
This great filly was bred at our ranch. This is her weanling photo - we will get an updated one shortly when she sheds out a bit from the winter. She is now a rich dark chocolate all over and otherwise looks just like her sire Iron Man. Spirit is also a full sister to our high point and champion yearling colt, Triple S High Court. She has great intelligence and confidence. This filly has good bone, substance and conformation, and is going to make a wonderful sensible, sound riding horse. We are starting her under saddle training now and look forward to seeing how she progresses.
| CD's Carousel 2006 Black filly Sire: Choco Dock Dam: Sheza Tom Cat |
A stunning black filly with long legs and elegant neck. Carousel was shown by Van Bert Farms as a yearling in '07 and is won several prestigious blues! She is now growing up at Van Bert Farms where she will be started under saddle the end of '08.
| Rockin' Country Remedy 2007 Chocolate filly Sire: CD's Elixir (by Choco Dock) Dam: Rockin' Country Sunday |
Our youngest filly born this year is a stunner and a keeper! Looonng legs, a disposition as sweet as honey, and a champion pedigree top and bottom. She is out of the great mare Rockin' Country Sunday, who tragically died of colic when "Remedy" was four months old. We are thankful to have such a wonderful offspring to carry on Sunday's legacy.
